Quaternary amines

Quaternary amines are salts of quaternary ammonium cations or quaternary ammonium compounds. Quaternary amines are used as wetting agents in the oil industry, corrosion inhibitors, shale and bactericides, as disinfectants, surfactants, fabric softeners and antistatic agents. Quaternary ammonium compounds are obtained by quaternization, and the resulting compounds are called quats or QAC) are cationic surfactants (surfactants) that combine bactericidal and virucidal activity (usually only enveloped viruses) with good detergency and, hence the cleansing ability. These disinfectants are popular for their effectiveness against germs, bacteria, and viruses, combined with their long shelf life.
