Stearic acid

Stearic acid (octadecanoic acid, stearin) is a saturated fatty acid, one of the most abundant fatty acids in nature. Monobasic carboxylic acid of the aliphatic series is a crystalline powder or flakes of white color without a specific odor, which do not dissolve in water, but dissolve well in diethyl alcohol and aqueous solutions of alkalis. The unique formula of the molecular composition has allowed stearic acid to find wide application in many industries.
