Flame retardants for PU systems
Flame retardants are components that prevent and reduce ignition and combustion in materials of organic and synthetic origin, due to the content of flame retardants (ammonium phosphates, boron, ammonium chloride), synergists (substances that enhance the effect of the main moderator) and stabilizers that limit the consumption of the moderator.
The method of administration of flame retardants depends on the type of material being protected. So, the wood is impregnated with a flame retardant solution or a paint containing this substance is applied to its surface.
In synthetic polymers such as PU, flame retardants are added either at the stage of their production, or during subsequent processing, or already in the finished product.
