Carrageenan
Carrageenan is a family of linear sulfate polysaccharides derived from red algae. Carrageenan is a natural gelling agent obtained by processing algae by extraction with subsequent purification from organic and other impurities - by multiple precipitation, filtration and washing in water and alcohol. Refined (E407) and semi-refined carrageenans (E407a) are distinguished depending on the degree of purification.
